Welcome!

From New Orleans street corners to New York City clubs (with innumerable stops in between), Lucky James (a.k.a. J.P. Delanoye) has delighted audiences for over thirty years with a unique blend of traditional and modern acoustic music. He accompanies Piedmont and Delta blues, Appalachian flatpicking, swing and folk guitar styles with a driving harmonica and a voice of many dimensions. Original songs (featured on four independent albums) and a broad repertoire of American "roots" music combine for a high-energy, captivating performance. James has been lucky enough to have opened for such diverse acts as blues wizard John Hammond Jr., R&B legend Delbert McClinton, Doc Watson, Leon Russell, Jefferson Starship, the Cajun supergroup Beausoleil, Warren Zevon, Texas guitar virtuoso Junior Brown, and many others, with strong acclaim from both audiences and headliners. He co-founded the successful regional band Ghost Mountain R&B, which played electric blues and R&B throughout the southeast from 1998-2010, were voted Western North Carolina's best band in 2006, and whose two albums received worldwide airplay and critical accolades. Southeastern appearances include engagements at the Black Mountain Festival, the Greenville, S.C. Riverfest, Asheville, N.C.'s Bele Chere celebration, Freedom Weekend Aloft in Anderson, S.C., the Blue Plum Festival in Johnson City, Tenn., the Alive After Five series at the Knoxville, Tenn. Museum of Art, and the Lake Eden Arts Festival (L.E.A.F.), along with numerous radio, club, and private shows. As a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, Lucky James generates an intensity uncommon among solo artists, and is a compelling performer well worth checking out.

Seven Sisters Tap Room, 400 East State Street, Black Mountain, NC (828-357-8002)

It's our third visit to this popular Black Mountain watering hole, off the main drag across from the elementary school and Ole Guacamole. We're looking forward to playing a great new outdoor venue (weather permitting; in case of rain, we'll be inside). Hope to see you there!

Straightaway Cafe , 1722 NC Hwy 9 (South off I-40 Exit 64) , Black Mountain, NC (828-669-8856)

An acoustic afternoon at perhaps my favorite venue, a rustic roadhouse way out in the unspoiled upcountry of east Buncombe county... wonderful people, unexpectedly fabulous food, and an unparalleled atmosphere. Early show at one of the region's most unique and beautiful listening locations, up on Route 9 between Black Mountain and Bat Cave! Great brunch, cold beer (of course) and good music. C'mon up and enjoy the altitude!

Jimmy's On The River, 2334 US Hwy. 70 , Swannanoa NC 828-686-1986

Our first visit to a brand new venue, and while we've tried their delicious food, we're very excited to be the "pioneers" of Jimmy's live music program. Great pizza and Italian specialities, and a potentially great new listening room! Come on down and support a striving local business... you won't be disappointed. Family friendly, no cover!
